I'd wanted to see Iceland's varied terrain for a long time, and it had been
prohibitively expensive until a dramatic change in the exchange rate made the
country more affordable. I took advantage of off-peak discounts to get in just
before the tourist season hit, enabling me to enjoy some peaceful solitude and
long daylight hours.
