Trip 14 - Caucasus

26 September to 27 October 2012

This was originally going to be a "countries that end in 'stan'" trip, as I'd been itching to see some more of the former Soviet republics. But I found myself briefly in Istanbul in the spring of 2012 and decided I wanted to see more of Turkey, especially after hearing wonderful things about Cappadocia. Then it was easy to go on to the non-"stan" former USSR republics of Georgia and Armenia. And as one person I met pointed out, I got my "stan" in the middle of "Istanbul," at least.
